I grew up in Salt Lake City, UT, where I began my musical theatre career as the title character in The Ugly Duckling. I did all sorts of community theatre in Salt Lake, and was involved in local theatre groups for children like the Junior Shakespeare Co., who performed Shakespeare for elementary schools, and the University of Utah's Theatre School for Youth. I grew up watching movie musicals like West Side Story and The Music Man, but I didn't realize that people actually performed these shows live, on a stage! I had always taken dance class, and I sang a little in the bathtub, but once I realized I could sing and dance for a living, I was hooked. The Phantom of the Opera was the first show I truly loved, and when my dad took me to New York for the first time and I saw that chandellier drop, I knew what I was born to do. i did as much theatre as I could through high school and ended up getting a degree in Musical Theatre from the University of Northern Colorado.
In 1999 I made the big move to NYC and set to work auditioning. I soon got my first professional job, with TheatreWorks USA in Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile. After several regional productions, such as Godspell at the New Harmony Theatre and The Sound of Music at Carousel Dinner Theatre, I got the National Tour of The Full Monty. After that was the National Tour of Evita with the incomparable Hal Prince. Then Wicked came along and changed my life. What a blessing to play Elphaba, such a complex character. Then came The Marvelous Wonderettes, where I got to play Cindy Lou, a fantastically mean girl who learns her lesson! And an Original Cast Recording to boot! Now I'm so glad to be playing the sassy Dyanne in Broadway's Million Dollar Quartet. I'm beyond grateful. A heartfelt thanks to everyone who's stood by me thus far, and to all you fans for your continuous support!
